Annamalai University was founded in 1929 by late Hon’ble Dr. Rajah Sir Annamalai Chettiar.The University is located in Annamalai Nagar, Chidambaram, Tamil Nadu, India.The National Assessment and Accreditation Council(NNAC) has accredited Annamalai University with A grade in 2014. The University offers various courses to students including Art, Science, Marine Science, Fine Arts, and Agriculture and so on. It also provides the opportunities to complete M.Phil and PhD courses to the students.
Distance Education:
The Directorate of Distance Education in Annamalai University has opened the doors for the students who are desirous for study but cannot attend the classes. The University offers around 500 courses in distance mode. It includes Graduate, Post-Graduate, Diploma and Research programmes.

Annamalai University has got the departments of Science, Arts, Medical, Education, Agriculture, Engineering & Technology and many others.
Scholarships:
Annamalai grants scholarships to the eligible candidates. It is the University which has distributed the largest amount of scholarships. Every year around 380 scholarships are distributed by Annamalai University.
